Another Best Holiday Album of the Year winner for Bill Leslie in 2011. This 16-track album of traditional and original songs features acoustic guitar, grand piano, violin, cello, Celtic whistles, flute, oboe, harp, hammered dulcimer and percussion by Bill’s son, Will Leslie.
The first fifteen cuts are instrumental. The album ends with Bill Leslie’s hauntingly beautiful vocal “Winter Rose.” The album is a tribute to best-selling Mitford series author Jan Karon who describes the music as “wistful and consoling — the perfect antidote to the bane of modern anxiety.”
Reviewer Bill Binkelman wrote: “The cozy feel and small town charm of the fictional Mitford is perfectly captured in the music of this delightful album and almost makes you feel like you are there in the moonlight watching the snow swirling around the church steeple on Christmas Eve.”
